A drummer friend of mine told me the other day that Smitty Smith has left Pearl drums. Apperantly he wanted engraved S's on his signature snare when it was made and Pearl woulden't do that for him. Now they have the new Joey Jordison signature snare with HUGE engraved S's (the Slipknot logo) - I guess this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Can anyone confirm this?

Smitty is a deadly player and I think he has been with Pearl from the start. I'd take this question to the Pearl board, but I like to steer clear of that place

It's true...my Pearl rep informed me of this a couple of weeks ago. Apparently not a very pretty separation either. There's more to it than S's on the snare.

Smitty is a killer player but I've seen him a number of times in L.A. and not once was he playing Pearl drums.

I'm sure companies will be fighting to associate themselves with him. Great player.

    I'm glad he left Pearl.

I would never even consider playing their drums, at any price...
